Sony will be releasing the official PlayStation 3 Bluetooth Headset in Japan, alongside SOCOM: Confrontation, on the 30th of October. It’ll cost approximately 5000 yen ($46) on its own or 8000 yen ($73) bundled with SOCOM: Confrontation.
The headset comes with its own docking station for charging the battery, which allows up to 8 hours of voice chat, while on-screen indicators will show you the battery charge level, connection status and volume level. The headset will work automatically via a Bluetooth or USB connection.
The official headset will also work with upcoming games such as Resistance 2 and Motorstorm: Pacific Rift, and other games that support the online chat functionality. No release date has been announced outside of Japan, although you can still get away with using mobile phone Bluetooth headsets for the time being.
