From screenshots and videos of MadWorld, we can determine that it will be one of the most violent games ever released, and certainly the most gruesome on the Wii, its exclusive platform. Now, following controversy over the violence, Sega has announced that they are actively working with the ratings boards to ensure MadWorld will get the appropriate rating on its release.
A marketing representative for Sega, David Corless said: “Yes, it’s violent. We don’t try to hide that, but as publishers, we see it as a fantasy game - it’s fantasy violence. It’s over the top. It’s cartoony. We also take the violence very seriously. We are working with the age rating boards, with PEGI and with BBFC. We’re not at the end of the game’s development, but we’re working with them now to make sure that we don’t go over the top.”
While Sega are publishing the game in development at Platinum Games, they also worked with the ratings boards on another of their published games, Condemned 2, and that turned out pretty grisly. Nothing to worry about, then?
