Clive Barker's Jericho will lead to better games

What did you think of the first-person shooter, Clive Barker’s Jericho? Hot? Not so hot? Well, according to Clive Barker himself, he’s not in a good position to judge how good or bad the core game play is because he’s “not the expert,” which effectively leaves him in the clear as far as Jericho’s average reviews are concerned.

Clive Barker“I come for the character designs, monsters, atmosphere,” said Barker. “I was very proud of the game. I think it looks amazing. But I believe people when they say the game play isn’t what it should be and I’m perfectly sure if they’re saying that, there is probably some truth in that. To the extent that I can, I will try to get it better next time. But in the end, that’s not my area of expertise.”

Clive Barker’s first game, Undying, wasn’t met with much commercial success while Jericho wasn’t met with much critical success. Barker maintains, however, that he will continue to work in the realms of video games. “I think games are potentially an incredibly interesting art form and I want to be a part of creating those worlds,” said Barker, continuing on to say “Though I respect hugely the effort and the care and the beauty of games, I want to be working with people who want to create the War and Peace of games, the Citizen Kan of games and not just be warming up George Romero,” referring to the plethora of zombie games available on the market today.
