The attendance numbers for the 2008 Leipzig Game Convention are in. According to the numbers, 38 000 visitors came to the show over its four day run, compared to 35 000 people last year. This includes 8 000 game industry attendees, the number of which also increased from last year’s 6 000.
While Nintendo was not present at the show, 547 exhibitors were there to demonstrate their wares in the 115 000 square meters of the Leipzig Exhibition Center. According to some reports, 300 products made their premiere appearances at the show, in terms of worldwide, European or German debuts.
While it has been speculated that this year’s Games Convention in Leipzig would be the last, with the show moving to Cologne next year, their website confirms that the event will indeed remain, in one form or another, in Leipzig with the note; “Please Notice - Leipzig: 19th-23rd August 2009.” Interesting.
