UK Charts: Chart Track software sales for the week ending 16/08

Nintendo’s Mario Kart Wii climbs two places to top the UK’s All Formats Charts, experiencing a 6% increase in sales this week. According to Chart Track Nintendo has dominated the charts with nine All Formats number 1’s in the past 19 weeks.

Nintendo also takes second place with Wii Fit, dropping from last week’s number 1 due to a 24% decrease in sales. Sega’s Beijing 2008 climbs ten places to number 3 (Number 1 on Xbox 360 and PS3 charts) while Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games moves up four spots to number 4, no doubt re-energized by interest in the Olympic Games.

Nintendo’s Wii Play at number 5 means that Sega and Nintendo share the Top 5 this week. Chart Track data shows that Nintendo claim the lead format on eight of the Top 10 games, with six of the 10 exclusive to Wii or DS. Nintendo also boasts 15 DS or Wii games in the Individual Formats Top 20.

Namco Bandai’s Soul Calibur IV drops five places to number 7 while THQ’s Big Beach Sports loses footing to finish eighth and Nintendo’s Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training moves up one spot to number 9.

Activision-Blizzard are sure to be pleased with two Guitar Hero games in the Top 10, Guitar Hero III hangs on to number 6 while Guitar Hero: On Tour drops three places to number 10.

There are two new entries into the Top 40 this week, EA’s Madden NFL 09 debuts at number 17 and Summer Athletics from Eidos at number 25.
