E3 2008: Feel the beat with Wii Music

Wii Music allows up to four players to choose from over 60 different musical instruments before beginning a jamming session.

Whether it be a guitar, drums, banjo, sitar, piano or marimba, players simply imitate playing the instrument – there are no complex buttons and players of all skill levels can enjoy it since you cannot make mistakes in this game.

Players use simple motions with the Wii Remote and Nunchuk like strumming and drumming to play to the beat of a song or improvise by playing faster or slower or skipping a beat. The game automatically transfers your improvisations into music.

After choosing a song and instruments, players can decide how to play the song and whether they will improvise. You can also send your recordings (featuring your Mii band members and instrument choices) to Wii Friends who own the game via WiiConnect24 who in turn can modify the recording.

In addition to the main band jams, the game features several musical games and an enhanced video playback mode for recorded jams. Players will be able to command an orchestra in the conducting game by waving a Wii Remote controller or play a handbells game by swinging the Wii Remote and Nunchuk when your note appears.

The game also includes a tone quiz, which challenges players to arrange Miis playing notes in pitch order, as well as a drumming mode. Play a virtual drum set using the Wii Balance Board to activate the pedals and cymbals and the Wii Remote and Nunchuk as drumsticks.

Wii Music is scheduled to be released this holiday season.
