Nintendo’s Wii Fit has raced to the top of the UK’s All Formats Chart this week. Moving up six places to number 1, Wii Fit knocks Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Brawl to number 3.
Wii Fit debuted at the top of the chart twelve weeks ago but stock problems have hindered the success of the game. This week it records a 60% increase in sales while SSBB experiences a 37% drop in sales.
LucasArts’ Lego Indiana Jones climbs one place to number 2, beating SSBB by just 167 sales. Take 2’s Top Spin continues to perform well, moving up two places to number 6 with a 7% increase in sales.
Now in its third week of release, EA’s Battlefield moves down three spots to number 5 while THQ’s Big Beach Sports loses two places to finish sixth. Last week’s number 5, Sega’s Beijing 2008, is at number 8 this week.
Nintendo’s Wii Play climbs two positions to number 7 while Activision’s Kung Fu Panda moves up seven places to number 9 thanks to the release of the movie in cinemas. Sega’s Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games loses two places to round off the top 10.
Carnival: Funfair Games moves up from number 23 to number 15 thanks to hardware bundling while THQ’s Wall-E, now in its second week of release, enters the Top 40 at number 16, with anticipation for the film’s UK release on the 18th of July building.
According to Chart Track there are five Wii-exclusive party games in the All Formats Top 40. Ubisoft’s Sports Party is this week’s only new entry, the Wii mini-games debut at number 29.
