Konami’s Rock Revolution will be released across Europe in Quarter 1 of 2009. This music based party game will be released on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and Nintendo DS. Xbox 360 and PS3 owners can also look forward to song packs which will be released on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
Konami is no stranger to rhythm action games, having brought gamers the popular Dancing Stage series, as well as Karaoke Stage, Beatmania and Guitar Freaks.
Rock Revolution is touted to be the “most advanced music title for any format,” boasting an authentic drum kit and support for bass and lead guitar accessories. Real musicians have designed the game which features numerous single- and multiplayer modes.
The PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game include over 40 tracks that challenge players to match on-screen instructions with the corresponding action on the instrument. Players will be able to choose between one of 15 avatars before competing both on- and offline while co-operative modes and band competitions allow players to compete against friends in a battle of the bands. Players can also practice tracks in Rehearsal mode and freeform their own tracks and record them on the game’s multi-track studio in Studio mode.
The Wii version of the game allows for Air Guitar and Air Drum play using the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. In addition players will be rewarded for performing instrument abuse or scissor kicks during a performance. Up to four players can also jam in the multiplayer mode.
DS owners can choose their instrument before using the stylus to match on-screen instructions in the 20 tracks. Players can also perform stage moves like in the Wii version for bonus points. This version features customizable venues and players can unlock props such as fireworks and laser shows to impress the audience.
