Sierra unwraps new Mummy game

Sierra has announced The Mummy: Tomb of the Dungeon Emperor will be released a week after Universal Pictures movie hits the circuit. The third-person action-adventure game is scheduled to be available in the UK from the 8th of August and across North America on the 22nd of July.

Eurocom Studios will be handling the development for the Wii and PS2 while A2M will be in charge of the Nintendo DS version. Players will step into the shoes of Rick O’ Connell (played by Brendan Fraser) and his son Alex (Luke Ford) as they journey to various exotic locations including Chinese catacombs and the Himalayas, struggling to defeat the revived servants of the Dragon Emperor (Jet Li).

In addition to hand-to-hand melee attacks, players will be able to make use of a fluid combat system and an arsenal of weaponry as they solve puzzles and decode hieroglyphics.

“The Mummy is one of the most distinctive and expansive franchises in Universal’s portfolio, and there is inherent gameplay in the property,” said Bill Kispert, Vice President and General Manager, Interactive, Universal Pictures.

“The new film amps up the action, introduces a ruthless new villain and takes our heroes to incredible new locations. We are thrilled to bring all these attributes to life in this game.”
