All hardware experienced a sales increase in Japan for the week ending the 4th of May thanks to Japan’s Golden Week.
Most notable was the PSP which sold over 100 000 units to yet again claim the title of best-selling console in Japan. According to Media Create figures the PSP sold roughly 8 500 more units than last week, racking up a total of 100 870 units and placing it well ahead of the Wii which scored second place with 71 518 units (up from last week’s 48 796 units).
The Nintendo DS sold 52 542 units, an increase of about 10 000, while the PS3 experienced a slight bump up from 9 107 to 10 177 units. The PS2 was next with 8 802 units followed by the Xbox 360 with 1 725 units, up from last week’s 7 108 and 1 283 units respectively.
