DS lanning in Durbs

Rebound once again rallied the DS troops this past Friday night. We gathered at our normal watering hole, DS’s charged and ready (well, most of us had charged our DS’s).

Our waiter asked if we had stumbled upon one another here. Yes, that must be it, eight DS players just happened to randomly gather in one place at one time…in a perfect world life would be like that! Unperturbed by our rather stony response to “oh, you guys are playing PlayStation,” he proceeded to ask us if we were in a clan. LOL, I have not been in a clan since my PC gaming days, but I suppose we are in a clan of sorts…a cool DS gaming clan.

Once we had educated another ignorant person of the great gaming opportunities presented by the DS (revolutionising South Africa, one person at a time), we ordered our meals and got down to business. Mario Kart DS of course! As usual every lap was controversial with shouts of “I was in first until your blue shell hit me, now I’m in last” – as they say ‘so gaan dit met die lewe’ and ‘so gaan dit met Mario Kart!’

After a much deserved drinks break, we tackled Tetris and finally Metroid Prime Pinball. I would like to point out that somehow a PSP gamer masquerading as a DS player had managed to sneak into our midst. Just kidding, he was only giving it a spin during a Mario Kart timeout.

Thanks to Rebound for organising another great DS gathering, stay tuned for details of the next event which should be happening around the 6th of June. Head over to Rebound’s website for more information.
