Sony has announced that SingStar PS3 will be arriving on North American shores on the 20th of May. The announcement was tucked away in a press release detailing SCEA’s participation in the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.
Sony has not yet priced the game or released a final set list for the US version of the game. SCEA’s press release did state that “Songs will be available to purchase and download, and a sizeable number of new songs will be added on a continual basis every few weeks.”
Developed by SCEE, SingStar PS3 was released across PAL territories last year and features a downloadable catalogue of songs online at the SingStore. Earlier SCEE announced that 12 million SingStar units have been sold across the PAL territories to date, 5 million of which were sold in 2007. In addition SCEE announced that one million tracks have been downloaded from the SingStore in its first four months of trading.
SingStar PS3 will be one of three games that SCEA will showcase at Coachella. Gran Turismo 5 Prologue and LittleBigPlanet will also be on offer. SingStar fans will be able to perform on stage in front of a live audience in Sony’s interactive booth. You will be able to view new downloadable songs online at the www.singstargame.com SingStore which will be available for the game and you will even be able to upload your performances via My SingStar Online.
SingStar fans should also keep an eye out for the SCEA area within the Coachella campground at the Internet café and the TMO Tone Def Party and SingStar Lounge on Saturday night which will showcase SingStar PS3.
