Capcom has revealed a new weapon for Lost Planet Colonies, the flame launcher, “its like a rocket launcher, but, you know, for flames.”
Capcom’s Seth Killian detailed the Flame Launcher in a video on Capcom’s blog. To sum up, while players had to use a grenade or dig using B to find items buried the snow in the original game, the flame launcher can be used to melt snow “almost instantly.”
In addition the flame launcher is “pretty effective” to take down structures and it does take them down a lot faster than normal weapons. It also does good damage on people but you may have to “keep them cooking for a while.”
Be warned that the flame launcher does burn up thermal energy fast and that if an enemy throws a grenade at you while you are using it, the grenade will detonate immediately and although it will kill your enemy it may also kill you.
Lost Planet Colonies will feature new maps, weapons, gametypes and characters. Players will also be able to play as “nigh-indestructible 50-ft bugs in multiplayer.” It will be released on the Xbox 360 across North America on the 27th of May.
