Sony has announced that SingStar Vol. 2 for the PS3 will be launching this summer. The game will feature 30 new tracks, a new harmony duet mode as well as PSP Remote Play functionalities.
The game includes top artists such as The Killers, Eminem, Kaiser Chiefs, Gorillaz and all the tracks feature the original music videos.
SingStar fans will also be able to experience a new way of playing with the harmony duet mode which allows two players to sing different lines to a song at the same time. Special tracks which have been included to showcase this mode include Kool and the Gang’s ‘Celebration,’ Paul McCartney & the Frog Chorus’ ‘We all Stand Together’ and ‘California Dreaming’ by The Mamas & The Papas.
PSP Remote Play functionality means that players can access different areas of the game including the SingStore and My SingStar Online. Players will be able to browse, select and download new songs from the SingStore remotely or browse and participate in My SingStar Online. As well as a new in-game design, SingStar Vol. 2 includes battle and one-player modes.
The game will also give players access to SingStore where they can download tracks at $0.99 or 1.49 Euros each. Sony claims that there are currently over 300 tracks available in the store but this is a rather contentious issue.
There has not yet been any announcement regarding the long awaited wireless mics. Players are also anxiously waiting confirmation that the tracks will also be available on SingStore as downloadable content or if players who already own the first installment of the series will have to purchase the disc and interchange volume one and two.
