Last week Sony announced that the PS3 would soon be getting a new system software update. Version 2.20 is now live and Sony has detailed the update further.
The new firmware delivers BD-Live interactive film features, enabling PS3 owners to download video content, ringtones and interactive movie-based games, as well as the ability to copy photo and music playlists on a PS3 to a PSP. The update also allows DivX and WMV format videos to be played.
PR Manager for SCEA, Al De Leon, commented “Also, to set the record straight, Blu-ray Portable Copy was never a part of this firmware update, and the feature isn’t related to BD-LIVE. We know a lot of you are excited about the ability to take a copy of a BD movie with you on the go on your PSP, so we’ll keep you posted on any developments with this cool feature in the future.”
Head over to SCEA’s PlayStation blog for a walk through demo by Eric Lempel of the new features.
