Sony has announced that the PS3 has sold over one million units in the UK.
Even better news is that it reached this target quicker than its predecessor did. The PS2 took 50 weeks to rack up sales of one million units whereas the PS3 achieved this tally since its launch in the UK on the 23rd of March 2007.
This announcement comes in the wake of Sony’s June 2007 confirmation that one million PS3 units have been sold across Europe in just over nine weeks.
For comparison reasons bear in mind that Nintendo’s Wii became the fastest-selling console in the UK after it sold one million units in just 38 weeks while Microsoft’s Xbox 360 took 60 weeks to reach the one million sales mark.
