THQ recently unveiled Band Mashups for the Wii.
Band Mashups will feature 30 hits, each recorded in the five musical styles (rock, funk/hip-hop, country, marching band and Latin), resulting in 150 unique tracks. The game combines customizable bands and fast-paced combat as players battle it out for musical supremacy. The game also includes 70 weapons, all musically themed of course, such as sniper violins and flamethrowing guitars.
Players can choose a musical style before battling it out in a single player campaign and a two player versus mode. The single player mode sees players stepping into the shoes of one of eleven bands that sees you taking on the boss Mr Hong to take control of New Cadenza.
The game features ‘Music switching,’ a new concept which places the player who is winning the battle in control of the music style that both players will hear. However, should the losing player get back on top, the music will change again.
“Band Mashups takes an innovative approach to the rhythm/action genre by blending music and combat in the ultimate battle of the bands,” said Randy Shoemaker, global brand director, THQ.
“Using a rhythm based game-play mechanic, the game delivers 70 over-the-top musical weapons and utilizes the Wii Remote’s functionality to deliver a completely original musical combat experience. Fighting with a sniper violin or flamethrower guitar is something gamers should definitely look forward to.”
Band Mashups will be available in April 2008.
