For the fourth consecutive week, Activision Blizzard and Treyarch’s WWII shooter, Call of Duty: World at War, takes the No. 1 position in the UK All Format Charts, despite a 15% drop in sales. It has so far sold over 1 million units in the UK, a milestone that Call of Duty 4 managed in eight weeks. Blitzkrieg? Blitzing the competition! Anyways…
Nintendo are still strong-arming the Top Ten this week, as Mario Kart Wii, apparently on the back of some renewed advertising, jumps up to No. 2 from No. 4 last week, with a 15% increase in sales. Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training also rises in the chart, taking a walk to No. 4 from No. 5 last week. Two more Nintendo titles make the Top Ten cut, as Wii Fit hops into the fray from No. 12 last week to No. 8 (on a sales increase of 43%) while Wii Play steps one down to No. 9 from No. 8 last week (despite a 5% sales increase). What happened to third place?
Well, that spot seems dedicated to Fifa ’09 at the moment, a non-mover at No. 3, with another EA title, Need For Speed: Undercover hitting No. 5 from No. 2 last week (and sales down 21%). At No. 6 we have Tomb Raider: Underworld, up from No. 7 last week, while Fallout 3 benefits from a 60% sales increase, leaping from No. 13 last week to No. 7 this week, after a seemingly successful retailer price promotion. Rounding out the Top Ten is Guitar Hero: World Tour, stumbling down to No. 10 from No. 9 last week.
Other interesting UK All Format Chart movement includes Lego Batman: The Videogame hurdling its way to No. 12 from No. 20 last week, WWE Smackdown VS RAW 2009 making a similar jump from No. 22 to No. 14, Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 tumbling all the way to No. 16 from No. 6 last week, Far Cry 2 mounting a comeback hitting No. 17 from No. 28 last week, Fable 2 bounding up to No. 19 from No. 35 last week (on the back of a promotion and 81% rise in sales), Resistance 2 dropping to No. 20 this week from No. 10, Wii Music taking an unfortunate dive down to No. 20 from No. 11, GTA IV making a re-entry to the chart at No. 22 thanks to the PC version (with sales up 160%), Animal Crossing: Let’s Go To The City debuting at No. 26 and Prince of Persia debuting at No. 30.
