It’s been announced that classic PC god game, Dungeon Keeper, will see a return to the gaming world with the creation of a massively multiplayer online RPG (MMORPG)… in the Chinese online market.
Chinese developer NetDragon Websoft have revealed that they have struck an agreement with Dungeon Keeper license holder, EA, to create 3D MMORPG based on the themes, characters and game content of the original Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper 2, developed by now defunct Bullfrog Productions (founded by Peter Molyneux all those years ago).
NetDragon have also gained the rights to operate and distribute the game, known as Dungeon Keeper Online, throughout the region of Greater China, which includes Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong. NetDragon’s chairman, Liu Dejian said: “Capitalising our strength to create a strong gaming experience, powerful operating platform and unmatched expertise within China’s online game market, we are confident that Dungeon Keeper Online will not only become successful in the Greater China region but also achieve remarkable results overseas.”
We’ll have to wait and see about the “overseas” business…
