Call of Duty: World at War once again manages to retain the top spot on the UK software sales charts, with sales rising 2%. Holding the coveted No. 1 during a Christmas week is considered quite an achievement, so if World at War manages to hold on for one more week, Activision Blizzard will be able to claim the longest uninterrupted lead up for a Christmas No. 1, with six consecutive weeks.
Mario Kart Wii at No. 2 is a non-mover from last week (with sales up by 1%), as is Fifa 09 at No. 3 (with sales down by 1%). Need for Speed: Undercover climbs from No. 5 to No. 4 this week (sales up by 3%), while Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training trades places, moving from No. 4 to No. 5 (sales down by 3%). On the back of a price-promotion, Fallout 3’s sales increase by 6% to step up to No. 6 from No. 7 last week, while Wii Play (with a sales increase of 16%) and Wii Fit (with a sales decrease of 5%) follow at No. 7 and No. 8 respectively. Guitar Hero: World Tour moves from No. 10 to No. 9 this week (sales up by 18%) and Tomb Raider: Underworld rounds out the Top Ten this week at No. 10 from No. 6 last week.
Other interesting movement on the chart includes Sonic Unleashed moving from No. 33 to No. 12 (sales up by 87%), Quantum of Solace leaping from No. 27 to No. 13 (sales up by 53%), LittleBigPlanet jumping from No. 29 to No 16 (sales up by 58%), Prince of Persia making its way up the chart from No. 30 to No. 20, Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 dropping to No. 24 from No. 16 last week, Carnival: Funfair Games falling to No. 27 this week from No. 18 and Mirror’s Edge moving up to No. 30 from No. 36.
