UK Charts: Chart Track software sales for the week ending 22/11

Ah, this is the UK Chart that we know and love! This week, Nintendo’s titles make a strong comeback, Call of Duty: World at War rules the sales with an iron fist and Gears of War 2 drops out of the Top Ten. Huh, what?

Call of Duty first - World at War has managed to hold onto the No. 1 spot in the UK All Formats sales charts for the second week in a row, making CoD franchise history, despite a 51% drop in sales, outselling the No. 2 title by 2 to 1 in the process. Fifa ’09 manages a resurgence and leaps from No. 5 to No. 2 this week on the back of a 28% rise in sales.

One of the debut titles to the charts this week, Need for Speed: Undercover, places at No. 4 in its first week in the charts, making it the lowest position attained for a next-generation Need for Speed game. The other chart debutant, Tomb Raider: Underworld, charts at No. 9 and was able to outsell last year’s Tomb Raider: Anniversary (albeit by 6 700 units) on first week sales. The platform breakdown sees the PS3 version selling the most (with 51% of sales), the Xbox 360 second (with 34%) and the rest selling on Wii, PC and DS. What about those Nintendo games?

Well, they’re all over the chart this week. Mario Kart Wii races up to No. 3 from No. 8 last week thanks to a rise in sales of 33%, Wii Fit storms from No. 12 last week to No. 5 this week (with sales up 45%), Brain Training climbs up from No. 13 to No. 6 (sales up by 46%) and Wii Play skips to No. 10 from No. 11 last week (sales up by 22%). Filling in the blanks, we have Football Manager 2009 dropping from No. 3 to No 7 this week (with sales down 55%), and Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 taking a small walk up to No. 8 from No. 9 last week.

Other interesting movement on the UK All Formats Chart this week include Gears of War 2 moving out of the Top Ten from No. 4 to No. 14, Wrath of the Lich King tumbling down to No. 2 from No. 34 thanks to a drop in sales of 91% (which can also be attributed to the new download option, but isn’t a concern for Blizzard either way), Wii Music sales percentage is up by 67, placing it at No. 12 this week from No. 16, Left 4 Dead debuts at No. 15, Guitar Hero: World Tour slumps to No. 11 from No. 6 last week, Professor Layton and the Curious Village stumbles down to No. 18 from No. 7, Fallout 3 walks to No. 23 from No. 14, Mirror’s Edge continues to be unappreciated, moving from No. 20 to No. 28, Far Cry 2 lurches down to No. 38 from No. 26 last week and SingStar ABBA debuts at No. 39.
