UK Charts: Chart Track software sales for the week ending 15/11

Three new launch titles managed to claim the top three spots on the coveted UK Top Ten this week, with Call of Duty: World at War taking the No. 1 spot to become the UK’s 3rd fastest selling game of all time (1st and 2nd go to GTA IV and GTA: San Andreas respectively). World at War’s combined launch week sales (on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC) have also managed to outsell those of Call of Duty 4, its older sibling, by a factor of 2 to 1.

In No.2 we have World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King, which is now the fastest selling PC title in the UK, beating the previously held record established by Championship Manager 4 in 2003. At No.3, Football Manager 2009 manages to outperform the older entries to the series during its launch week, while contributing to a successful week for PC gaming.

Gears of War 2’s sales have dropped 64% from its launch a week ago, meaning it has to be happy with a No. 4 placing, from No. 1 last week. Fifa ’09, the chart-stomper of the last few weeks, also slips down a few places from No. 2 to No. 5 this week. Guitar Hero: World Tour, on the other hand, takes a huge leap and lands at No. 6, all the way from No. 17 last week, due to the release of the complete instrument packages.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village moves down to No. 7 from No. 6 last week, despite a rise in sales of 9%, while Mario Kart Wii slides down to No. 8 from No. 7 last week, also on the back of a 12% sales increase, but no match for the new kids on the block. Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 maintains its position at No. 9, while WWE Smackdown VS Raw 2009 takes a walk down to No. 10 from No. 5 last week.

Other interesting movement on the charts this week include the release of debut titles Wii Music (charting at No. 16) and Mirror’s Edge (charting at No. 20), Wii Fit moving out of the Top Ten to No. 12, Fallout 3 dropping sharply from No. 3 last week to No. 14, Quantum of Solace falling down to No. 18 from No. 8, LittleBigPlanet making another surprise move and tumbling to No. 19 from No. 4 last week, Far Cry 2 continuing its decline in the charts by moving from No. 14 to No. 26 and Fable II, once a No. 1 debutant, now at No. 27 from No. 16 last week.
