Japanese Sales Data: Media Create software sales for 03/11 – 09/11

Nintendo’s Hoshi no Kirby: Ultra Super Deluxe for the DS debuts at number 1 on the Japanese software chart with 266 000 copies. Known to many as Kirby Super Star, this popular SNES platformer was first released in Japan in March 1996 and the remake for the DS has been released under the name of Kirby Super Star Ultra in the US.

Nintendo dominates the top three spots with Rhythm Tengoku Gold for the DS moving up four places to number 2 with 40 000 copies and Wagamama Fashion Girls Mode, also for the DS, at number 3 with 37 000 copies (last week at number 5). Pokémon Platinum for the DS remains in fourth with 37 000 copies.

Grand Theft Auto IV by Capcom drops from its debut at number 1 last week to number 5 with 36 000 copies. Square Enix’s Valkyrie Profile: Toga o Seoumono for the DS drops four places to number 6 with 32 000 copies after debuting at number 2 last week. Capcom’s Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G for the PSP re-enters the Top 10 at number 7 with 18 000 copies while Nintendo’s Personal Trainer: Walking for the DS climbs one place to number 8 with 18 000 copies.

Sony’s Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Spec III drops two places to number 9 with 17 000 copies and Sony’s LittleBigPlanet rounds off the Top 10 with 17 000 copies, plummeting from its debut at number 3 last week.

Nintendo’s Wii Music and Wii Fit continue to hover just outside the Top 10 at numbers 11 and 12 respectively while Square Enix’s Cid to Chocobo no Fushigi na Dungeon for the DS drops out of the Top 10 after debuting at number 10 last week to number 16.
