UK Charts: Chart Track software sales for the week ending 25/10

Well, surprise surprise! Fable II, the hotly anticipated title from Lionhead and Microsoft has rocketed to the top of the UK Charts this week, pushing Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and Fifa 09 aside like yesterday’s garbage.

Some interesting notes regarding the title include the fact that it is the first All Formats UK No. 1 for Microsoft since Halo 3 - also the first game developed by Lionhead to manage this feat. Fable II has so far outsold the original Fable by a factor of 3.81 to 1. Fable II also become the Xbox 360’s 5th fastest selling game in the UK, behind GTA IV, Halo 3, Fifa 09 and Call of Duty 4. Enough about Fable II though.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 saw sales slide by 58% this week, landing it at No. 4 from No. 1 last week. Fifa 09 sales are also down by 24%, causing it to slump down to No. 3, although Far Cry 2 sees to that as well, reaching the No. 2 spot in its debut week. The sales split between platforms for Far Cry 2 sees the Xbox 360 taking 43%, the PS3 taking 33% and the PC snatching up the remaining 24%. Saints Row 2 takes a dive down to No. 5 from No. 3 last week.

Another new entry to the chart this week is Dead Space, which debuts at No. 6, which means Lego Batman: The Videogame is pushed down to No. 7 from No. 4 as a result of all of the new entries. Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii, ever the chart toppers, are pushed down to No. 8 and No. 9 respectively, both losing three places from No. 5 and No. 6 last week respectively. The last entry to the Top Ten this week, and yet another new entry to the chart, is Midnight Club: Los Angeles, hitting the No. 10 spot in its debut week.

Other new entries that failed to make the Top Ten include Moto GP 08 at No. 32 and Spider-Man: Web of Shadows at No. 38. In all of the excitement, however, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed gets force-pushed down to No. 13 from No. 7 last week, Wii Play is paddled down to No. 11 from No. 8, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 lands at No. 16 from No. 9 and Brothers in Arms: Hell’s Highway shoots down to No. 20 from No. 10 last week. The full Top Ten follows:

  • Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 (Konami)
  • Saints Row 2 (THQ)
