The Pokemon Platinum Japanese chart dominance has been quelled, for the time being, with the release of Macross Ace Frontier for the PSP, charging into the No. 1 spot with 104 000 units sold this past week in Japan. Pokemon, meanwhile, manages an extremely respectable 86 000 units, and 1 681 000 sold so far, to reach the No. 2 spot. As is usually the trend, and with weekly sales still this strong, Pokemon Platinum is likely to retake the top spot soon.
Rhythm Tengoku Gold for the DS floats up to the No. 3 spot from No. 4 last week, with 49 000 units and a fantastic total of 955 000 sold total. Dynasty Warriors 6 falls to No. 4 this week from No. 2, with 48 000 copies sold. Super Robot Wars Z also tumbles down the chart to No. 5, also with 48 000 sold, from No. 3 the week before.
Surprise surprise, Wii Fit lands in the Japanese software Top Ten at No. 6, with 16 000 units sold and a whopping total 2 722 000 copies sold. Mario Kart Wii, after waiting in the wings for a while, makes a reappearance in the Top Ten at No. 7, by muscling through from No. 11 with 10 000 units sold for the week and a no-less whopping (but not as whopping as Wii Fit) total of 1 809 000 copies sold.
Powerful Major League 3 falls to No. 8 from No. 6, with 8 000 units for the week, while Dragonball DS climbs one place to No. 9 (also with 8000 copies sold) and Daigasso! Band Brothers DX rounds out the Top Ten (again with 8000 units), up from No. 13 last week.
Notable movements in the Japanese charts this week include Ikki Tousen: Eloquent Fist plummeting down to No. 21 from last week’s position of No. 8, To Love Ru Trouble making a similar fumble by moving down from No. 7 to No. 19 this week and World Destruction stepping out of the Top Ten, down from No. 9 to No. 12 this week.
