Konami has confirmed that Silent Hill Origins which was released for the PSP last year is currently in development for the PS2.
This survival horror game will feature signature sound and music from Silent Hill composer, Akira Yamaoka, as well as updated controls to maximize combat (Travis can now use his fists, wits and different weapons including a meat cleaver, pool cue and sledgehammer) and multiple endings based on Travis’ actions.
“Console gamers can now expect the same chilling, suspenseful and fear-filled experience that handheld gamers encountered when we released Silent Hill Origins on the PSP system,” said Anthony Crouts, Vice President of Marketing for Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. “This is their chance to learn more of the mystery and mythos surrounding Silent Hill that’s been hinted at in earlier games and made the series such a success.”
Silent Hill sees players stepping into the shoes of truck driver Travis Grady as he stumbles upon the town Silent Hill. Players must now help Travis to escape Silent Hill’s scary inhabitants and discover the truth behind Travis’ hallucinations.
Konami has yet to confirm a release date for the PS2 version but Amazon reflects its release date as the 4th of March.
