NPD data has revealed that Activision was the top console and handheld publisher for 2007 in the United States.
Recording a 7.2% increase, Activision now boasts a 17.7% market share. Its popular Guitar Hero series was the best-selling franchise for 2007 in the US while the latest installment, Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, was the top title across all platforms in terms of units and dollars.
Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock took the crown as number one best-selling title across all platforms in dollars for December while Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare came in third place.
Robert Kotick, Chairman and CEO, Activision, Inc., commented, “For the first time in our history, we were the #1 U.S. publisher for the calendar year. We are well on our way to delivering sixteen years of record revenue growth and by far our most profitable year ever.”
