August sees Nintendo Wii outselling PS3 3 to 1 in Japan

The latest figures from Enterbrain have revealed that the Nintendo Wii outsold Sony’s PS3 by three to one in Japan during August.

According to Bloomberg, there were 245 653 Wii units sold in the four weeks ending on the 26th of August. Sony sold just 81 541 PS3s while Microsoft’s Xbox 360 trailed at 11 288. However, Sony is closing the gap as demonstrated by last month’s sales when the Nintendo Wii dominated them four to one and June six to one.

To date the total number of units sold in Japan are as follows: Wii – 3.4 million; PS3 – 1.1 million; Xbox 360 – 442 290.
