Nintendo has confirmed that Pangya! Golf With Style for the Wii, known as Super Swing Golf in the US, will launch across Europe on the 8th of June. It will retail at approximately 49 Euros / £34.

Embark on a new golf experience on Pangya Island, as you navigate your way through 11 different courses, swinging the Wii Remote as you would a golf club. Although the game contains all the basic elements of golf it also adds a touch of fantasy and its own set of rules.

Players can select one of two characters at the start of the game, Scout or Hana. However, as you progress you will unlock more characters, each featuring unique golfing skills. Players can customize their character, selecting their character’s look and different outfits which, in true Nintendo style, actually affect the statistics of the character. If you become attached to your customized character you can save it on your Wii Remote and compete with it on a friend’s Wii.

Pang Points wanted Dead or Alive

Players will have a caddie to accompany them on the course, a caddie who also happens to be a magician. Players can choose from eight caddies, each with different skills, but choose wisely because these caddies can improve a player’s stats. In Pangya! Golf With Style, players must not only sink the ball but collect Pang Points as they complete the courses. Players can win Pang Points by striking the ball well, completing risky shots successfully and finishing a round under Par. Use these points in the shop to purchase items and clothing to improve your golfing ability. They are also used to decide an overall winner should there be a tie. Look out for outfits from Dead or Alive which can be unlocked, enabling players to customize their golfer to look like one of the Dead or Alive fighters.

Game modes

Single player mode sees players entering tournaments in order to unlock new courses and new characters. Take part in three tournaments: Pangya Fiesta is a story mode which introduces the game’s characters; Stroke Play where players must complete the course in the least number of strikes; and Match Play where players must sink the ball in fewer shots than the maximum allowed.

Versus mode enables players to battle it out in Match Play and Stroke Play modes as well as negotiating courses and bursting as many balloons as possible in Balloon Pop. Players can use items acquired in other game modes to assist them in versus mode. For example, Wing God Fan is a hinder item which can be used to produce wind to put your opponent off their shot by moving the Wii Remote up and down. Players can also use the Graffiti Crayon to write on the screen and obstruct your opponent’s view.
