Singstar Legends

Sunday 03 Dec 2006

If you don’t already know what SingStar is, read this editorial for a full explanation.

Singstar: Legends Screenshot 1SingStar Legends is the seventh SingStar game to be released, claiming to feature songs by “legendary” artists which include U2; Aretha Franklin; Johnny Cash and Madonna. Unlike other SingStars, this version surprisingly does not feature too many new songs, I suppose this is because not too many new artists can be classed as legends yet.

There have been no changes to the GUI or any of the game play dynamics. The songs do seem to be a lot more difficult in terms of scoring. Another thing to mention about this version of the game is that you will recognise nearly every song, as opposed to the developers throwing in a couple of strange songs that nobody has ever heard of before.

Here’s the songlist:

Aretha Franklin - Respect
Barry White - You’re The First, The Last, My Everything
Black Sabbath - Paranoid
Blur - Parklife
David Bowie - Life on Mars?
Depeche Mode - Enjoy The Silence
Dusty Springfield - Son Of A Preacher Man
Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong - Let’s Call The Whole Thing Off
Elton John - Rocket Man
Elvis Presley - Blue Suede Shoes
Jackie Wilson - Reet Petite
John Lennon - Imagine
Johnny Cash - Ring Of Fire
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet Home Alabama
Madonna - Papa Don’t Preach
Marvin Gaye - I Heard It Through The Grapevine
Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit
Patsy Cline - Crazy
Pet Shop Boys - Always On My Mind
Roxy Music - Love Is The Drug
Sam Cooke - What A Wonderful World
The Jackson 5 - I Want You Back
The Monkees - Daydream Believer
The Police - Roxanne
The Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody
The Rolling Stones - Sympathy For The Devil
The Smiths - This Charming Man
Tina Turner - What’s Love Got To Do With It?
U2 - Vertigo
Whitney Houston - Greatest Love Of All

Because all the SingStar games are basically the same, the rating will be given for the songlist and the “enjoyablity” factor of the selection.

Pros: Another great SingStar party game.
Cons: Song selection doesn’t appeal to the younger generation.
