UK Charts: Chart Track software sales for the week ending 1/03

Tuesday 04 Mar 2008

Sega’s Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games has topped the UK’s All Formats Chart for a third week in a row. It earns the number 1 spot despite four new entries into the All Formats Top 10. In addition Mario & Sonic now boasts being number 1 for a total of six weeks.

New entries ahoy!

Ubisoft’s Lost: The Video Game for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC debuts in third place and tops the PS3 chart. THQ’s Frontlines: Fuel of War for the Xbox 360 and PC enters the fray at number 4 but just 153 sales separate it from Lost. It tops the Xbox 360 chart. Microsoft’s RPG Lost Odyssey for the Xbox 360 debuts at number 6 as the third highest new entry. The last new entry is The Sims 2: Freetime from EA which debuts at number 10 and tops the PC chart.

It is interesting to note that there are three new titles with the word ‘lost’ appearing in the title. Capcom’s PS3 version of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition was also released this week but narrowly misses out on a place in the Top 40.

Brain Training continues

The white Nintendo DS Lite Brain Training bundle helps Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training to move up one place to number 2. The bundle helps the hardware sales of the DS Lite this week, with sales increasing by 24%. This is the second time the original Brain Training title has secured a number 2 spot. It also takes the number 1 place on the DS Chart for the 41st time (held by Mario & Sonic last week). More Brain Training from Dr Kawashima moves up from last week’s number 15 to finish at number 7.

Activision’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare drops three places to number 5 while EA’s FIFA Street moves up from last week’s number 11 to number 8. The release of the PSP version of Konami’s Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 sees the title re-enter the Top 10, up eighteen places to number 9. The title secures the top spot in the PSP Chart.

Last week’s top ten candidates

Turning now to look at the titles which fell out of the top ten this week, Capcom’s Devil May Cry 4 dropped to number 14 (last week’s number 4) while Nintendo’s Wii Play plummeted from number 5 last week to number 27. Midway’s Game Party dropped to number 13 (last week’s number 6) and Disney’s Turok moved down from last week’s number 7 to number 18.
