Friday 15 Feb 2008

EA has announced that the NCAA Football franchise is set to debut on the Nintendo Wii. NCAA Football 09 will also be released on the Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, and PSP.

The Wii version will feature EA Sports’ Family Play mode to create a ‘social, accessible experience.’ Designed to simplify controls and enable fans of all ages and skill levels to play popular EA SPORTS games on the Wii, EA SPORTS Family Play debuted in the Wii versions of Madden NFL 08, NBA LIVE 08 and FIFA 08. Family Play enables payers of all abilities to compete, novice gamers with a simplified control system while advanced players can use the advanced control system.

In addition, to celebrate the franchise’s debut on the Wii, the Wii version will feature a platform exclusive NCAA college team mascot on the cover instead of an athlete. Fans of the series can vote for which college team mascot will appear on the cover. Voting is now open on the NCAA Football 09 website until the 6th of March. The winning mascot will be announced on the 14th of March.

“Nintendo is excited to have NCAA Football 09 available for Wii. In my family, NCAA Football has always been a family event. Now with the Family Play mode from EA we can share the football experience all year long.” said Steve Singer, Nintendo of America’s vice president of Licensing.
