Japanese Sales Data: Wii Fit in good shape, Nintendo dominates software top 10Thursday 24 Jan 2008 Nintendo has once again dominated the software sales in Japan, claiming six self-published titles in the top ten (four of which land in the top five), while a total of nine of the top ten are software titles for the Nintendo DS and Wii platforms. Wii Fit once again takes the number 1 spot with 92 000 copies shifted for the week ending the 20th of January. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for the Nintendo DS debuts in second place with 90 000 copies while the Wii version moves up one place to number 8 with 19 000 copies. Mario Party DS drops one spot but continues festivities in third place with 33 000 copies while Wii Sports also moves down one place to fourth position with 30 000 copies. Capcom’s popular Monster Hunter Portable 2nd for the PSP holds on to fifth place with 24 000 copies, the only non-Nintendo platform game to feature in the Japanese software top ten this week. Level 5’s Prof. Layton and Pandora’s Box settles in to sixth again with 22 000 copies while Final Fantasy IV from Square Enix for the Nintendo DS drops three places to number 7 with 22 000 copies. Square Enix’s Dragon Quest IV drops two places to number 9 with 18 000 copies while Super Mario Galaxy moves up one place to re-enter the top ten at number 10 with 16 000 copies.
