Japanese Sales Data: Nintendo DS rules the roost

The latest figures from Media Create show that the Nintendo DS is still topping the hardware sales in Japan.

For the week ending the 21st of October the Nintendo DS sold 70 608 units, down from last week’s 78 746 but still well ahead of Sony’s PSP which sold 58 669 units, also down from last week’s sales of 59 584 units.

Nintendo and Sony’s next-gen machines both did well this week. The Nintendo Wii sold 24 932 units while the Sony PS3 sold 17 130 units, up from last week’s 20 575 and 12 365 respectively. Sales of Sony’s PS2 continues to hold steady at 10 281 units while Microsoft’s Xbox 360 is down from last week’s 6 161 to 3 011 units.

The Nintendo GBA sold 270 units in comparison to 187 last week and the Nintendo GameCube is down from last week’s 79 to 48 units.
