Nintendo donates Wiis to YMCA’s in USThursday 12 Apr 2007 Nintendo of America has donated 100 party packs containing Wii consoles and copies of Wii Sports to YMCA chapters around the US. In a bid to keep the energy of children alive and to encourage bonding with parents, the YMCA chapters plan to use the Wii to bridge the gap between parents and their children through their Adventure Guides programs, as well as encourage an active and healthy lifestyle. Many of the YMCA chapters also plan to incorporate active Wii games into their Healthy Kids Day events on the 14th of April. “Consumers all over America are telling us the Wii helps them to stay active and fit and also gives them another reason to be together as a family,” says George Harrison, Nintendo of America’s senior vice president of marketing and corporate communications. “Wii has quickly become a part of America’s fitness plan, from bowling leagues for active seniors to kids and parents who sweat through Wii Sports pentathlons together.”
