Virgin Radio launches on PS3 and WiiWednesday 11 Apr 2007 Virgin Radio yesterday became the first radio station to stream on the Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii with gamers able to listen to Virgin Radio on their PS3 or Wii in the UK. Although Xbox 360 owners cannot yet listen to Virgin Radio, Virgin has confirmed that they are working on a solution for Microsoft’s next-gen console. “It’s great for us to achieve another new media first and be the only UK radio station available on both of these massively popular games consoles,” said James Cridland, director of digital media. Claiming that ‘If it’s got a speaker on it, we want it to be playing Virgin Radio,’ Virgin issued a three step guide to setting up Virgin Radio on your PS3 or Wii. Gamers should open the internet browser on their PS3 or Wii, head over to virginradio.co.uk/listen and click on the ‘Listen now’ button.
Virgin Radio felt this was a good way to appeal to younger audiences. Cridland, commented “People are treating the consoles as part of their home entertainment media centre, and now Virgin Radio will be part of that experience.”
