ZorroEarlier this month EL33TONLINE reported that Pronto Games been given the green light to bring the sword-wielding Zorro to the Wii. Publisher 505 Games today confirmed that it will be publishing The Destiny of Zorro exclusively on Nintendo Wii. Developed by Pronto Games, Zorro is scheduled to bring swashbuckling action to Wii owners worldwide in late 2007.

Defender of the oppressed

Players will become the infamous Zorro as they journey through the desert landscape and sun scorched coast of the early 1800’s Spanish California. To those of you who are not familiar with Zorro, let me let you in on a little secret. Zorro is the defender of the oppressed whose secret identity is the fictional wealthy caballero Don Diego de la Vega.

Bringing justice to his foes

The Destiny of Zorro promises action as well as romance. Players can look forward to innovative game play as they whip, slice and perform Zorro’s signature ‘Z’ slash move making use of the motion sensitive Wii Remote and becoming the hero himself. The Destiny of Zorro is inspired by the Mexican, Spanish and Native Southwest American cultures which were prevalent in California in the early 1800’s, the time of the original Zorro.

The story will see Zorro confronting Calavera and his troops, foiling a plot to steal treasure, overcoming a power-hungry mob boss and even facing a rebel army. The game will allow players to uncover some secrets behind the origin of Zorro and carry forward some of the plot lines which have been suggested by recent Zorro properties including the recent blockbuster movies based on Zorro.

Slash and swing in the upcoming action game for the Wii

“Swashbuckling Zorro is the perfect character for the Nintendo Wii,” commented Randy Angle, President and Creative Director Pronto Games. “We had a very short list of characters when we first considered making an action game for the Nintendo Wii… Zorro is a natural… using the Wii remote and the nunchuk controller players are in for a real treat as they slash and swing their way through Zorro’s story.”
