Square Enix Ltd. has today announced that Dissidia: Final Fantasy for PSP will release across Europe and PAL territories on September 4th this year.
Dissidia: Final Fantasy is, for all intents and purposes, a fighting game, although you’ll be able to choose to fight as a character from a list of fan-favourite Final Fantasy heroes and villans, chosen and included from the entire history of the franchise, and battle it out in fully 3D arenas, using classic Final Fantasy weapons and magic to overcome your opponents.
A new trailer for the third-person action brawler/sneak-em ‘up, Batman: Arkham Asylum, features developers working on the game talking about how they’re trying to ensure that Batman (and thus you, the player) encounters the most difficult challenges in his crime-fighting career throughout the game.
As usual, Batman: Arkham Asylum is looking incredible, and is surely set to become the best Batman videogame ever released, if not one of the best games based on a licensed property - the developers would have to do something terrible to drop the ball now.

The usual assortment of new Rock Band, Guitar Hero: World Tour and game downloadable content (DLC), as well as game videos and PS3 themes, are included in the update.

Anyone looking forward to the next entry to the Fifa series had best have a gander at the first glimpse of in-game Fifa 10 footage released to the masses – it looks absolutely incredible!

A bankruptcy court judge has recently approved Warner Bros. proposed $33 million buyout of Midway, as well as two of its studios and select assets from the financially stressed publisher, the most valuable of which is arguably Mortal Kombat.
The judge confirmed that any objections to the deal (and there were many) had been resolved, clearing the way for the acquisition to go ahead.
The deal, however, does not included two of Midway’s development studios, Midway San Diego and Midway Newcastle, both of which have 60 days to find a suitable owner. If this does not happen, the studios will be shut down.
EA and internal developers Visceral Games have released the first in-game footage from their third-person action adventure epic, Dante’s Inferno, and it’s looking especially tasty.

Despite Nintendo’s Wii Sports Resort selling 360 000 copies in its opening week in Japan, the Wii only saw a very slight increase in hardware sales from the week before. The Wii sold 21 790 units, marginally up from last week’s 19 386 units, testimony to the large install base of Wii’s in Japan.
It’s interesting to note that Media Create report a 84.98% sell through on Wii Sports Resort. Although the game comes bundled with the new Wii MotionPlus, 296 000 separate Wii MotionPlus attachments were also sold. The number of Wii Remotes sold increased from 13 000 to 30 000 while the number of Nunchuks flying off the shelf also increased from 8 000 to 27 000. A good week all around for Nintendo then.
Lips fans rejoice! Microsoft has announced that new tracks will be available this July. Those singing sensations among us can look forward to new tracks arriving on Xbox Live Marketplace and the in-game Get Music Store including the likes of The Black Eyed Peas, P!ink and Sir Mix-a-Lot (who?).
For just 160 Microsoft Points each, you could soon find yourself crooning to Jesse McCartney’s ‘Just So You know’ or becoming a little bit more rowdy with The Black Eyed Pea’s ‘Hey Mama’ or P!nk’s ‘Get the Party Started.’ The P!nk song pack will be available on the 10th of July for 440 Microsoft Points.

Zen Studios has announced that its Marvel Comic-inspired first person shooter The Punisher: No Mercy is now available on the PlayStation Store in both North America and Europe for $9.99. This announcement comes despite earlier reports from the studio that the game would be delayed in Europe.
The publisher also announced that a free demo of the game will also be available to download on the PlayStation Network from today. The demo will allow players to “sample the fast-paced action of the Marvel Comics-inspired first-person shooter with two of the eight levels from the original version of the game.”
Microsoft’s Larry Hryb (aka Major Nelson) has reassured Xbox gamers that they “don’t need to worry about a huge influx of ads across the dashboard” with Microsoft’s move to bring Silverlight ads to Xbox Live in the future. Silverlight is a Microsoft web technology that allows dynamic content similar to Adobe’s Flash.
According to Hyrb, “I need to let you know that you don’t need to worry about a huge influx of ads across the dashboard. One of our core principles is to enhance, not interfere with the gaming experience, and we work directly with our partners to only deliver experiences that are relevant to the LIVE community.”
Codemasters has released a slew of new screenshots for its upcoming off-road racer, Colin McRae: DiRT 2.
DiRT 2 promises to deliver “new race types, big event atmosphere, stunning locations, a new breed of off-roading heroes and feature a peerless line-up of super-charged speed machines covering seven vehicle classes.” The game will also include online multiplayer and social networking functions.
DiRT 2 will be available for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS and PSP this September. Just so you know the game is titled Colin McRae: DiRT 2 in all territories outside the US and just DiRT 2 in the US.
